Good afternoon Pediatric Telehealth SIG Members,
I hope your 2026 is off to a great start so far. As state legislatures have begun to gavel in we are seeing legislation introduced in states across the country. I have included some bills that I have seen so far that could be of interest to this group. I will continue to add to this list in the coming months as more bills are introduced.
- Last week saw the introduction of legislation in Hawai'i (HB 1871), Maryland (HB 158), Mississippi (HB 1453), and Virginia (SB 721) that would establish a Maternal Health Monitoring Pilot Program to support pregnant and postpartum State Medical Assistance Program recipients who have higher risks of pregnancy complications because of maternal hypertension or maternal diabetes.
- Hawaii SB 2184 & SB 2206 would requires the Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Health, to develop and distribute to each public middle and high school in the State guidelines for the establishment and operation of safe spaces for students to access telehealth services on school property during normal school hours. Requires each public middle and high school to establish and maintain a safe space for students according to the guidelines.
