I'm working with a program designed to use mobile clinics to deliver a spectrum of services to students at their schools here in New Mexico, including physical health, behavioral health, family planning, and SUD.OUD. The program is looking for advice regarding obtaining consent at various ages, as well as verification methods if parental or guardian consent is required, parents are divorced, or child is in foster care. Are there specific approaches to documenting consent for physical health services vs behavioral health or family planning/birth control, or SUD/OUD counselling and services based upon age of the student? Input from the Pediatric SIG and members would be helpful regarding legalities, mitigating risk vs enhancing access to needed services. I look forward to your input. ---Dale Alverson, MD, FAAP, FATA (dale.c.alverson@gmail.com)
