Two ATA member companies, AvaSure, a leader in virtual care and smart hospital platforms, and Equum Medical, a telehealth-enabled clinical services organization, have expanded their partnership to deliver physician-led virtual care across the enterprise.

The enhanced collaboration integrates multi-specialty consults, tele-ICU support, and virtual hospitalist coverage into AvaSure’s enterprise virtual care platform — enabling health systems to extend virtual nursing and patient observation into higher-acuity clinical workflows on a single technology foundation.

By bringing together AvaSure’s scalable virtual care infrastructure with Equum Medical’s physician staffing and acute care expertise, hospitals can improve access to specialist care, reduce transfers out of network, and support workforce challenges while optimizing clinical resources.

Equum Medical CEO Dr. Corey Scurlock highlighted the real-world impact of the expanded partnership, noting it provides a practical way for health systems to deliver timely care with integrated clinical and operational support.

Both companies will continue joint outreach and presentations throughout 2026, including at major health IT and telehealth events, to help providers adopt enterprise-scale virtual care solutions.

As telehealth and digital health policy continues to be a key focus, the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) announced that Mercer May, Esq., director of government affairs at Teladoc Health, has been named the new chair of the ATA Policy Council. The ATA also announced that five new members joined the council. Mercer replaces Sarah-Lloyd Stevenson, MPH, a senior manager within Public Policy at Amazon, as chair of the Policy Council. Sarah-Lloyd will remain on the Policy Council as immediate past chair.

This ATA Insights Summit  is structured around hands-on strategy labs (focus groups), each led by healthcare executives, clinicians, and system builders actively delivering care.

Participants will spend two days co-developing usable frameworks, benchmarks, and implementation tools—followed by collaborative readouts to surface common themes, challenges, and actionable insights.
